Every child deserves to feel celebrated on their birthday.

Welcome to Birthday Connections’ Mindful Giving platform!

Birthday Connections is a Kansas City nonprofit that does birthdays differently. We know community members love shopping for gifts for local families. But the traditional model leaves the child’s own family out of the choosing.

So we flipped the party hat. We believe the person who knows a child best should do the choosing. Parents and caregivers referred by our partner agencies shop with dignity in our Birthday Market and pick the gifts and sweet treats they know their child will love.

That’s choice, not charity. On the big day, the parent or caregiver become the hero of their child’s special day.

This is where you come in. Each campaign here is one child’s real birthday. Their parent or caregiver has already chosen gifts, a birthday card, a book, party supplies, and a sweet treat. When you sponsor a birthday, you fund those choices. Everything is delivered to Birthday Connections. Our volunteers then take the gifts and treats to the partner agency that referred the family, and the agency passes them on to the family. In the end, the child or teen is the real winner!
